The Basheer Group comprises three landmark properties that are located in the CBD (The Strathmore Hotel) and inner suburbs of Adelaide (The Brompton Hotel and the Woodville Hotel).

The subject site, the Woodville Hotel, has been a long established traditional hotel concentrating on Front Bar, drive-thru Bottle Shop and Gaming. It’s fair to say that its core customers were older males.

The redevelopment brief was to transform the hotel into a contemporary offering attractive to the younger people moving to its immediate catchment and importantly families. This would be done through the provision of a bigger food footprint and an outdoor bar.

The most dramatic aspect of the brief included the closure and demolition of the drive-thru Bottle Shop and converting it into a feature outdoor area.

The resultant project works being completed whilst dealing with the normal challenges associated with making alterations to a heritage listed building.

OUR ROLE

Over the years SSC has been involved in providing redevelopment advice on renovations at each of the Basheer Group properties.

In this case together with the provision of general layout and design advice, SSC completed bar design specifications for all bars implicated by the renovations. Specifically SSC developed concepts for three bars (Courtyard, Sports and Front Bar); workshopped the bar layouts with management; completed a resultant review and refinement process and then submitted resolved concepts.
